Tara Energy energizes the communities it serves in more ways than one. We invite our customers to help us identify deserving organizations to receive donations from Tara Energy through either our Continuous Giving Program which is tied to certain charities via our Save & CareTM Plans or request a one time charitable donation.
Areas of Focus for Charitable Donations
While we support many philanthropic causes, we focus primarily on the following areas:
• Art, Culture, Humanities;
• Health, Disease; Disabilities
• Disaster Relief; and
• Youth, Education
Continuous Giving Program Guidelines
To be eligible for Tara Energy charitable donations via the Continuous Giving Program, recipients (i) must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code (the "Code"); (ii) must not be a private foundation described under Section 509 of the Code or a supporting organization described under Section 509 (a)(3)(B)(iii) of the Code; and (iii) must have total revenues of $1 million or more and file Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service. Further, charitable donations should benefit the communities served by Tara Energy.
Tara Energy does not make charitable donations via the Continuous Giving Program to, or for:
• Individuals for any purpose;
• Organizations that discriminate by race, creed, (including organizations whose sole purpose is promotion or support of a specific religion, denomination, or religious institution), gender, age or national origin;
• City, State or Federal government entities;
• Political activities (including lobbying);
• Political organizations (including organizations described under Section 527 of the Code).
How to Apply
In order to be listed as a charity in the Continuous Giving Program which is tied to Tara Energy's Save & CareTM Plans, an individual supporter may nominate a deserving organization, or the organization may apply to be listed as a Save & CareTM Charity, by submitting the organization’s name, history, mission, goals, and contact information on this form. As stated on the form, Tara Energy will consider all organizations in accordance with the guidelines and areas of focus set forth above. If selected, the organization will be provided with the enrollment documents required in order to be listed as a Save & Care Charity. Because of limited resources and a large volume of requests, it is not possible for Tara Energy to list every excellent and worthy organization that matches our focus areas. Therefore, Tara Energy reserves sole discretion to accept a charity into the program or to remove a charity from a program. However, a rejection of charitable funding should not be considered a reflection on the commendable objectives of the applicant.
Charitable organizations interested in applying for a one-time charitable donation may download and complete a Grant Application, and must state a clear reason for requesting a contribution that relates to the Areas of Focus above. Upon completion of the Grant Application, you may e-mail it to CommunityRelations@TaraEnergy.com or fax it to 832.553.7477. If selected, organizations must provide regular reports on the measurable results of the funded project upon Tara Energy's request.
